Prescription eyeglasses, on average, cost around $200. Thanks to generous donations of used frames, Lions are able to provide glasses as part of our local low vision screenings.
Do you have used eyeglasses that we can refurbish and re-use for our low vision clinics? You may bring them to a Wednesday Club meeting or contact Lion Lila Belitz (lbelitz@gmail.com) for other drop-off options.
Are you a local owner who would like to have a Collection Box for used glasses at your place of business? Please contact Lion Lila Belitz (lbelitz@gmail.com).
FACT:
Texas Lions Eyeglass Recycling Center Foundation is located in Midland Texas. They process about 1 million pair of glasses each year to send to other countries for use in providing vision to needy people.
As a delivery partner with the Visiting Nurses' Association (VNA) Meals on Wheels, we provide hot, nutritious, freshly prepared meals five days a week to Dallas County residents who cannot obtain or prepare meals for themselves due to illness, advanced age or disability.

It is estimated that 80% of the vision problems suffered by most people are avoidable. Lifestyle factors influence your vision, so you can make decisions each day to protect your eye health. Detecting the problems in the early stages will increase the likelihood that you can get the treatment that is needed to recover from the eye disease before it progresses.
